Oh Hell, Let's Just Make It Television Week

The band in question, on Jools Holland's program, in 1992, doing "In World" (probably my favorite song from their reunion album of the same year).

I hadn't seen this clip before, but it's very hard to watch it without concluding that these guys may have been the greatest live rock band ever. Jeebus, what a sound and what a groove.

A rare, and brilliant combination of head and heart.

Steely Dan? California.

The Band? Toronto.

Velvet Underground? The Dolls? The Ramones? You know how I feel about that scene.

Hendrix? The band came out of London, although Band of Gypsies was from NYC.

The greatest band to come out of New York probably had Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, or John Coltrane in it.
Greatest Rock N Roll band out of New York City? Both The Dolls and Television come to mind.
